The hill station of Dharamshala is covered by thick woods of Deodar, Oak and Pine forests. The cultural, artistic and historical past of princely state of Kangra is witnessed in ethos and style of Dharamshala with its history dating back to the 5th Century.

The ancient temple of Bhagsu, Jawalamukhi, Brijeshwari, Chamunda, Mahakal, Chintapurni and famous rock cut temples of Masroor are all in the vicinity. The Church of St. John in the Wilderness, Macleodganj, and oldest Hill fort in Kangra, War Memorial, Museum and Shobha Singh Art Gallery are other nearby attractions.

Dharamshala is hub to adventure sports activities like Para Gliding at Billing. Many speculator treks originate from Dharamshala, passing through the deodar & pine forests and going up to the snowy peaks.
